Hi!
My name is Sarah. I am from Mason, Ohio. I have one younger sister named Anna. My sister are really close. I also have a dog named Casey. I graduated from Mason High School. While in high school, my hobbies included gymnastics, competitive cheerleading, and pole vaulting. I still do gymnastics for the UC club team. I have been working at Staples for the past six months. I am majoring in Secondary Math Education. I chose teaching as a profession because I love working with children. I got a chance to tutor children in high school and i really enjoyed it. I have always wanted to become a teacher.

This is a picture of me with my Mom, Dad, Sister and my dog.

Reflection 1:
Standard #2: Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessment
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS-S.
c. customize and personalize learning activities to address students diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.

Not all students learn in the same ways. There are many different learning styles that the students may have. Teachers should be aware of these learning styles and apply each type of learning style to their lesson plans. Most people prefer all types of learning styles, but each student will learn best using one of the learning styles. It is important to teach students to learn with all learning styles because not all teachers will use each learning style. So students need to know how to learn in each learning style. Some different types of learners are auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Auditory learners would rather listen to a lesson than have to read about it. They want things to be explained aloud to them. Music in the background may even be a common study method for them. Visual learners learn best by looking at visuals like graphics, watching demonstrations and movies, and by reading. Visual learners have an easy time looking at graphs but may struggle with learning by explanation only. Kinesthetic learners learn best by a "hands-on" experience. Doing an activity with student involvement is the best type of learning for kinesthetic learners. These learners learn best by writing things down. Students need to be able to utilize all three types of learnign styles effectively even though they may have their favorite. It is important for teachers to teach using all three learning styles.

Teachers also can use technology and other resources to help with teaching by diverse learning styles. Teachers have a variety of technology tools that they can use. Examples would be computers, internet, power points, smart boards, overhead projectors, tv's, interactive games, and even more. But not every student will know how to use these different types of technology. So teachers need to make sure that they find out what types of digital tools their students know how to use. Then the teacher will be able to use those tools most effectively. The teacher can also teach students to use new tools and introduce using new tools in their lesson plans. There are different digital tools you can use for every type of learner. Using digital tools makes the classroom more involved and can help students learn more effectively.

Reflection 2:
Standard #1 Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
a. promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
b. engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
c. promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
d. model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments

Standard number 1 is a very important standards for all teachers to follow. Students need to be able to engage what they learn in real world experiences so that they can understand what they are learning. By applying what a teacher teaches to real life issues, the student is more able to grasp onto the concept. Teachers also need to use current technology to help their students learn. By using this technology students will be better prepared for the real world because technology is used greatly today. Teachers also need to make sure that they have face to face environments where students can learn by engaging with other students. For example in this class we do some group work. Right now we are working on our lesson plans in groups to teach us how to teach about lesson plans. This helps us become more involved in what we are learning and creates a knowledge construction among the groups.

We used this standard many times in our class. For example we do things like make seating charts. This is a real world example because in the future we will have to make our own seating charts for when we become teachers. We used technology to do this. We also work in groups a lot in our class. Sometimes we do different activities in groups using the computers. We also had a lesson one day where we were "younger students", this had us rotating from different stations and working in face to face environments with other students.

Reflection #3:

Standard #3 Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers:
a. demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations
b. collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success
and innovation
c. communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats
d. model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information
resources to support research and learning

This standard has to do with technology and the teacher. Teachers need to be able to use their knowledge of current technology in their classroom. Teachers need to show that than can effectively use technology and different tools. Teachers can communicate with students, peers, parents and the community by using technology. For example in this class our teacher allows us to send her emails to contact her and then she replies to us. We also use this wikispace to communicate to our teacher and we have used google docs to communicate. These tools helps support student success because they are to help the students. By using digital age media teachers need to communicate information that is relevant to their students. It is very important that the information that students learn from their teacher using technology is relevant to their learning. Teachers need to make sure that they are using recent and new technology. They will be in charge of facilitating the effective use of digital tools in their classrooms. Technology is very important for a classroom to learn. But if technology is not used effectively, the students will not learn from it.
